Inspectorate to review how Stockholm hospitals prioritize ICU patients
The Health and Social Care Inspectorate will be reviewing all emergency hospitals in Stockholm county for how they prioritized patients at their intensive care units.

The government agency launched the review following media reports about confusion over guidelines for admitting patients to intensive care units as well as reports that some patients aren’t receiving the critical care they need despite hospitals having enough beds.

The county’s health care director Björn Eriksson has previously said the guidelines are clear and that he welcomes the review.

Eriksson added that the hospitals have been told to prioritize patients for intensive care as they normally would as long as there is space in the county’s ICU wards.
