Expert: Relations with Russia are at rock bottom

Is it more than a tit for tat ?
Sweden Russian relations are at rock bottom after two Swedish diplomats were expelled from Russia this week says an expert to Radio Sweden.

This is according to Stefan Hedlund, professor in eastern state research at the institue for Russian and Euroasian Studies at Uppsala university, who explained how this would affect Swedish-Russian relations.

Hedlund said :” can’t it get any worse? I think we are at rock bottom in relations, when it comes to trust and good faith between Moscow and Stockholm “

He then defined the recent events of spies detention as a “ tit for tat “ strategy.

It is worth to mention that Säpo arrested a couple of months ago a person, said to be recruited by Russian agent, for suspected spying

The security service Säpo, which has responsibility for counter-espionage, said then in a press release that the arrest is the culmination of several years of work.
The suspected criminal activity is said to have been ongoing since at least 2017. The suspect was arrested in central Stockholm at a meeting, with Swedish police aiding in the arrest.
Säpo’s head of counter-espionage, Daniel Stenling, said the suspected spy is thought to have been recruited by a Russian intelligence officer working in Sweden under a diplomatic cover identity.
The suspected spy works in the "Swedish high-tech industry with details that the Security Service knows are interesting for foreign powers’ intelligence gathering" Säpo wrote in its press release after the arrest.
