Telephone support line for people who want to escape violent extremism

Save the Children and the Swedish Center for Preventing Violent Extremism are starting a new telephone helpline for people who want to escape their extremist lifestyle or their relatives.

The helpline will be financed by the Swedish Center for Preventing Violent Extremism and run by Save the Children Sweden.

Ola Mattsson is the head of Save the Children Sweden:
Today there is no other national channel to turn to for close relatives or people who are close to violent extremism, and it’s important that there is one. Not least because we see that the situation is very different among the various local authorities when it comes to support for this."

Save the Children have also previously run a similar service, but that line was shut down at the end of 2018 when financing dried up.
