Parliamentary committee discussing 10-year wait before reapplying for asylum
Asylum seekers who had their applications refused may have to wait 10 years before reapplying, according to a proposal currently being discussed by lawmakers

The proposal is being discussed by a parliamentary committee, made up of representatives from all eight parties, that’s been tasked with overhauling the nation’s migration policy.

On Tuesday, Swedish Radio News reported that the committee are considering extending the wait time to reapply for asylum by six years in the hopes of discouraging rejected asylum seekers from going underground.

The committee is due to meet again next week, and is expected to submit its final recommendations in full to Migration Minister Morgan Johansson in August.
