With the Swedes casting their ballots

Sweden marks 100 years of women’s voting rights

Sweden marks 100 years of women's voting rights
100 years ago on Friday women in Sweden finally won the right to vote - after parliament in 1919 removed the requirement that voters had to be a man.

The Swedish radio added that the women’s suffrage movement, led by a group of trailblazing women, became active across the nation with thousands of local members organising to secure the right to vote.
This was while It spoke with lecturer and gender expert Josefin Rönnbäck about the suffragettes of Sweden and how their years-long struggle came to an end.

As this happens, another related topic is taking place : the most debatable European election ever, amid a climate of online disinformation, migration, integration issues and even climate changes, a topic that is gaining more grounds.

The service mentioned earlier that Sweden’s election authority said the vote for the EU Parliament will withstand possible attacks from hostile forces in a "robust" way, but the main threat is how faith in the system could be undermined by propaganda.
Radio Sweden spoke to media researcher Kajsa Falasca at Mid-Sweden University.
She says that now as more people use social media for news and information, more efforts are being made to spread misleading information there.
